Advocates (lawyers) in Poland are organized on the basis of professional self-government.
The tasks of the professional self-government of advocates(lawyers) in Poland are:
1) creating conditions for carrying out the statutory tasks of the bar;
2) representing the bar and protecting its rights;
3) supervising compliance with the law on the profession of advocates(lawyers) in Poland;
4) professional development of advocates(lawyers) in Poland and training of advocate(lawyers) in Poland;
5) establishing and promoting ethics and respect for ethics;
Legal personality of self-government of advocate(lawyers) in Poland
The governing bodies of the Bar are the National Bar Association, the Supreme Bar Council, the High Court of Discipline and the Supreme Audit Commission. Only advocates(lawyers) in Poland can be members of the bar. The Chief Advocates 'Council, bar associations and lawyers' groups have legal personality.
Elections
Elections for the bodies of bar associations are held in secret ballot with an unlimited number of candidates. The term of office of advocate(lawyers) in Poland is three years, but they are obliged to act until the newly elected bodies are constituted. In the Presidium of the Bar Council and in the Presidencies of the District Bar Councils, you can not hold the same function for more than two successive terms.
Reports
The Supreme Bar Council submits annual reports to the President of the Republic of Poland on the activities of the Bar and presents legal issues of the law.
